Where’s My Refund? tool expanded

You can check the status of a tax refund on the IRS website using the tool called Where’s My Refund? It shows when your return has been received, when the refund has been approved, and when it has been sent. The IRS introduced a new feature that allows taxpayers to check the status of their current tax year and two previous years’ refunds (IR-2022-109). For the current year (2021), taxpayers must wait 24 hours after e-filing to see the refund’s status. For refunds related to 2019 and 2020, the waiting period is 3 to 4 days after e-filing. For paper returns, the waiting period is 4 weeks after mailing the return.
